BRITISH BUYERS CONQUERED THE VILLAGE OF GRANITOVO

Trud daily (18 March 2004)

Mayor Dimitar Gechev is happy that the newcomers liven Granitovo

...“This is a positive process for our village,” says the mayor of Granitovo Mr. Dimitar Gechev.
“The minute we publish an offer on the Internet at www.BulgarianProperties.com, there is a candidate to buy it.” At the moment in the village of Granitovo already live 52-53 families from Britain.
For the last 4-5 months, the village which was settled mainly by old people, turned into a hit on the British market. Granitovo village is situated at the foot of Sakar Mountain, 100 km from the seaside. It is surrounded by pine forests and hunting grounds, while the meandering nearby Tundja River is abundant in fish.

According to the mayor, the foreigners are attracted by this beautiful and ecologically clean nature.
Along the village of Granitovo, Britains settle also in other villages in the region of Elhovo. In the village of Melnitsa have been already sold 10 houses, 15 more are on the way. Realties are sold also in the villages of Maluk Manastir and Lesovo, as well as in the town of Elhovo.
However, according to the Bulgarian law, foreigners do not have the right to buy land in Bulgaria personally. That is why they register companies and in this way acquire ownership over the property.
