www.novinite.com, 3rd August 2006

The annual Jazz Festival at all-season-loved resort of Bansko will open this year with a salsa party.

The singing of Raul Paz passioned up by dances of Alfredo Torez will add an exquisite - and extravagant - touch to the ninth edition of the summer festival.

The French-Cuban legend Paz will perform hits of his latest album Revolucion recorded in the studios of Buena Vista Social Club in Havana.

The idea of mixing the two musical styles is not a pioneer whim, organisers said. A number of European festivals have set this model of topical organisation.

The six-day musical event, opening August 8, will bring jazz fans from the country and abroad.

Apart from being one of pearls of Bulgarian winter tourism, in the recten years Bansko has revealed its potential as cultural venue.

Construction and culture are going on apace and the tourism industry is booming after decades of stagnation.
