Golf in Bulgaria
Bulgaria offers all the prerequisites for the number of golf tourists to reach 500,000 per year. This is what the President of the World Golf Writers Jussi Yakonkaari said at a press conference held in the Lighthouse Golf Resort near Black Sea resort of Balchik.

Journalists from various Bulgarian and foreign media interested in the development of golf tourism in Bulgaria were present at the press conference. A short presentation was made showing the current state of this type of tourism in Bulgaria. In the country there are already four functioning golf courses and the fifth one is currently under construction. Two of these courses are located on the Black Sea coast, between the resorts of Balchik and Kavarna.

The other two golf courses are set close to the capital Sofia. According to Mr. Yakonkaari at the moment the advantages in the development of this type of tourism outweigh the disadvantages and things look promising. The natural conditions in Bulgaria are unique. Jussi Yakonkaari also noted the fact that the current prices in Bulgaria are low which makes the country a very attractive golf destination. For example, at the moment a week-long holiday in a Bulgarian golf resort costs about 30% less compared to Turkey.

Even at this stage Bulgaria could be defined as one of the best golf destinations in Europe because it is new, different and interesting, stated explicitly the President of the World Golf Writers.
