The city has a railway terminus line Levski - Troyan.
There are road links with Pleven, Lovech, Teteven Sevlievo Apriltsi and in Troyan passage - in Karlovo and Plovdiv.
The population at 2011 was 25,890 inhabitants, which makes it the second largest settlement in the area.
The region of Troyan is the natural reserves Goat Wall Steneto North Djendem. They are part of National park "Central Balkan", known for its unique flora and fauna. In Northern Djendem there are about 30 waterfalls with a height of over 20 m. The terrain is very uneven and full of rock formations, which are often bottlenecks. Reserve wall covers the entire upper Black River Osam. The area is rich with caves, which are insufficiently studied because of their nature abyss. Complex has unique rock formations, inhabited by many species of raptors.
